The Case For Emerging Markets Small Cap Value (DGS)

Summary

  • Emerging markets (EM) small cap value is an attractive asset class for long-term, value-oriented macro investors.
  • EM equities and particularly EM small cap value have lagged for the past 10 years and are poised for a return to their longer-term strong performance.
  • Investors need to carefully weigh coronavirus, ESG, financial reporting, currency, political and trade risks.

WisdomTree MidCap Dividend ETF: Outperforms Segment And Pays Monthly (DON)

Summary:

  • DON invests in a portfolio of dividend-paying mid-cap U.S. stocks.
  • We think the fund is a better option compared to alternative mid-cap ETFs with the dividend focus acting as a quality screen which has generated higher risk-adjusted total returns.
  • DON pays a monthly dividend and yields 2.36%, which is higher than its category.

Accumulated Thailand Equities Today (THD) 2-18-20

Today we accumulated more shares of the iShares MSCI Thailand ETF (THD). This is an odd buy for us because we are going to sell this position in the future. We don’t sell at a loss, ever. So, even though we will eventually close this position, we are sticking to our plan of bringing down the cost basis in positions we own. In the meantime we may collect a dividend or 2 from it. THD is still a good single-country emerging market ETF, but we have determined that we would rather own diversified emerging market funds such as DGS & DEM. The ETF Deathwatch list decreased in size in January. Ten exchange-traded products (“ETPs”) were added to the list, and 23 funds were removed. Of the removals, 17 were removed due to increased health and six were due to asset managers closing their funds. Equities continued to rise in January, so the decrease in the size of the Deathwatch list was to be expected.

Sorry, but Your ESG Funds Probably Suck by Cullen Roche

“I’ve previously discussed ESG investing and how investing in what you view as subjective morality is actually nothing more than old school stock picking. I get it – we want to do what’s right and make money. That’s all well and good, but as it pertains to secondary markets and stock picking this is mostly a fools errand and the investment management industry is taking advantage of this timely topic to sell what is nothing more than high fee active management sold as a do-gooder strategy that has its cake and eats it too. No. Just no.”

Seventh Sign of the Apocalypse: Tesla and the Market Top

If I had to pick a company and a stock that represented the mood of the stock market, it wouldn’t be a Dow Jones stock or a stock that’s been around for a long time. In fact, the one I’d pick has only been around since 2003, meaning that if you’re reading this, you’re probably older than the company.
