Accumulated Thailand Equities Today (THD) 2-24-20

We are continuing to buy down our cost basis in the iShares MSCI Thailand ETF (THD). We do intend to sell these shares when profitable, but don’t mind holding them until profitable. I expect we may collect another dividend before selling them. We will eventually move these funds into a diversified emerging markets fund such as DGS or DEM. Accumulated Thailand Equities Today (THD) 2-18-20

Today we accumulated more shares of the iShares MSCI Thailand ETF (THD). This is an odd buy for us because we are going to sell this position in the future. We don’t sell at a loss, ever. So, even though we will eventually close this position, we are sticking to our plan of bringing down the cost basis in positions we own. In the meantime we may collect a dividend or 2 from it. THD is still a good single-country emerging market ETF, but we have determined that we would rather own diversified emerging market funds such as DGS & DEM. THD – The Thailand ETF Removed from the Deep Value ETF Accumulator Buy List

Today we made the decision to remove the iShares MSCI Thailand ETF (THD) from the list of ETFs we are accumulating. This is a fine single country emerging markets ETF, but it no longer meets our criteria for our portfolio. Last year I added this ETF to the Deep Value ETF Accumulator daily buy list based on this article that I wrote: Is the Thailand ETF Worth the Risk? (THD) 1.1 I can no longer stand by the thoughts I put forth in this article and have decided to no longer invest in THD. We will be closing our positions in THD in the near future and diverting those funds to the some of the other 31 ETFs that we continue to invest in. Here’s a current chart of THD which may shed some light on why we originally wanted to invest in this ETF and why we are dropping this fund from our portfolio.

Disclosure: We currently own shares of THD and we intend to sell these shares in the near future. I am not a professional investment advisor.
